Challenge
The key challenge in the development of the Teeling Whiskey Distillery lay in redefining the format of a visitor centre in a design specifically tailored to the whiskey brand and its target market. The design achieves a successful balance between celebrating both the tradition, heritage and nostalgic appeal of whiskey, and the best contemporary design values.
Impact
This design is impactful because it finds new potential in old and historic buildings. Ireland has a huge stock of under-utilised buildings that are often overlooked for development or refurbishment. Within Irish society, we value our cultural heritage, and our built environment is often the most visible form of this heritage.
